Udayarka Jaladanki
Udayarka Jaladanki, is a philanthropist who constantly strives to uplift the community around her. She strongly believes in youth empowerment and is a strong supporter of her Indian roots- the rich heritage of Indian art and culture.
She has been helping several non-profit organizations in the US and India, such as Access Braille, Friends of Payir, Payir Trust, CMAY (Classical Music Awareness among Youth) to support several causes that she believes in.
Udayarka’s academic background in Biochemistry, holistic nutrition, and her certification in energy healing techniques in Reiki made her a strong advocate of the mental health of children especially girls.
During the pandemic, in the year 2020, she started a non-profit organization called VIPRA to support the causes that she has been campaigning.
Vipra, in the last 2 years, has supported underprivileged high school students’ College Fund at Payir Trust, funded artists of Indian classical arts affected by Covid-19, funded for academic and after school activities of children at Vianney Home, a school that strives to enhance the lives of mentally and physically disabled children, ran a “Blanket & Book” drive during the holiday season to provide warmth in the form and blankets and books to benefit the Children’s Home of Stockton and Children’s Book Bank, Portland, Oregon.
Udayarka lives with her husband Sreenivas and her two daughters Sarayu and Sarvani at San Ramon, CA.
Sarayu Jaladanki
Sarayu is an undergraduate junior at USC majoring in Human Biology and minoring in Artificial Intelligence Applications and Health Care Studies. On campus, she is an undergraduate researcher under Dr. Bluthenthal, researching the impact of marijuana legalization on opioid overdose rates. She also works under Dr. Allison Luu at LA County Hospital in the patient safety committee, focusing on in-patient injuries and falls. In addition, she has been involved in Dr. Allem’s lab, SOMA Lab, researching nicotine patterns across social media and its impact on adolescence.
Outside of school, she is Co-Director of Advocacy and Conference in Harm Reduction Los Angeles, a group of undergraduate, graduate, and medical students with a focus on harm reduction based medical care for people who use drugs.
She is also a part of the outreach team in TACO (Team Awareness Combatting Overdose), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that focuses on educating young adults about the risks and benefits associated with recreational drug use, especially about the dangers of illicit fentanyl contamination. She also serves on board as Co-Director of Community Affairs for Madhatter Knits, a USC club that knits beanies for premature babies.
During her time on board, she has expanded donations to LA homeless shelters. In her free time she enjoys reading, hiking, and skiing. After graduation, she plans on applying to medical school.
