Supporting Artists During the Pandemic

When the world came to a standstill, many classical dance artists lost their only source of income. With no performances, classes, or platforms to share their art, families were left struggling.

Vipra supported 10 Kuchipudi artist families, offering relief during these uncertain times. A top-performing artist, Pasumarthy Venkateswara Sarma, reached out to us to help young families who depended solely on this art form for their livelihood.

A small amount—may seem modest, but it meant the world to them. We are honored to stand by our artists and their children during such a difficult time.

First Steps in Education Support

Vipra’s very first donation —was made toward college tuition for Praveen, through our collaboration with Friends of Payir, an organization that supports children’s education in rural India.

Warmth and Comfort

We organized a book and blanket drive for a children’s home in Stockton, California—providing a little warmth and joy to kids who needed it most.

Vipra’s First Fundraiser: Jugalbandi – A Celebration of Harmony and Hope 🎶

Jugalbandi, Vipra’s first-ever fundraiser, in proud collaboration with Friends of Payir. Together, we envisioned something deeply impactful: Accessible college education that transforms lives, strengthens communities, and inspires future generations.

Jugalbandi wasn’t just a concert — it was a vibrant celebration of difference and unity, honoring the richness of Carnatic classical music, while supporting a cause close to our passions . We are proud to share that the evening was a melodious, magical success — filled with soul-stirring performances, generous hearts, and shared purpose.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the esteemed artistes who brought unmatched brilliance and beauty to the stage. It was successful show with the amount raised to $3,200.

Supporting Children with Disabilities

Vianney Home, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh

Vianney Home has been serving physically and mentally challenged children from underprivileged backgrounds since 1979. They provide education, therapy, mobility aids, surgeries, and a safe, nurturing home for children with disabilities—many from rural and low-income families

Vipra’s annual support includes:

• Evening tuition classes for 50 resident students (focused on English and Physics)

• Academic and personal development programs

• Their new care center in Kovur (Nellore District), providing funds for special equipment and support services

COVID deeply impacted Vianney Home’s ability to continue their essential work, and we were grateful to step in and assist when they needed it most.

Promoting Cultural Arts Among Youth

We believe classical arts are not just forms of expression, but vessels of wisdom, confidence, and emotional strength.

Vipra sponsored:

• Guest artist performances

• Videography for cultural showcases

Our goals:

• To bring Kuchipudi closer to the younger generation

• To share the power of dance and storytelling from Indian epics like the Ramayana

• To inspire children to connect with their cultural roots

• To help classical arts reach the platform they truly deserve

Supporting Learning in Rural Communities

Abhyasikas Program — Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh

Run by Sanghamitra Seva Samithi, this program supports 600+ students across 21 learning centers, including tribal and slum communities.

These centers (Abhyasikas) offer:

• After-school academic support

• Personality development activities

• Awareness on hygiene and healthy living

Vipra helped fund the daily operation of 5 Abhyasikas, ensuring these students continue learning and thriving in safe, caring environments.

In addition to our other initiatives, Vipra is proud to support

• Three engineering students with annual educational assistance

• Two high school students from families with limited financial income

• One nursing student from New Hope Orphanage

• An educational program at a school in Pattelgudam, as part of a passionate teacher-led initiative called “Closer to Digital”, helping bridge the digital divide in rural classrooms
